It didn’t matter whether I had it on heat or air-conditioning. When I emailed Black & Decker customer service, they were willing to help me. However, I’m still unsure how satisfied I am with the customer service because they want me to mail the broken unit back to them first. Not only do I write reviews, but I also read them. Others have tried this and waited weeks and sometimes up to three months before they received a new unit back from this company. I don’t have that luxury because of where this unit is placed. I have suggested they drop off the new one and have the broken one picked up simultaneously. I would have it packaged and labeled with the prepaid label they provided. But I’m not willing to send this back first without a replacement. I hope to hear back from them; however, it’s already been a day, and they have not responded to my suggestion.I WILL UPDATE WHEN I HEAR BACK FROM B&D.‼️UPDATE: 12/04/2024‼️HEAT SETTINGI must ensure that everyone knows how this device truly works. As I said in the headline, this is our third portable AC unit.It is now December, so we have frigid nights. This unit is heat and AC. At night, it gets so cold in the room. We turned the heat on to 66°, warming the room perfectly.EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:If you want the heat to run correctly, you must ensure that the room you use it in has humidity between 45% and 55%. The heater needs to draw moisture to heat correctly. If you run the unit on heat in a very dry room, it will not heat properly.I ordered the Dreo Smart Humidifiers for Bedroom, 6L Top Fill Supersized Cool Mist Humidifier for Large Room, 500 sq ft. to make sure the room has a proper climate.Unlike the AC unit, the heater cannot disperse the water from the air hose like when the AC portion is running. One difference between using AC and heat is that you will 100% have to empty the water reservoir a lot more when the heat is running.I cannot believe I must specify this, but let me do it anyway. You can attach the clear hose to have it run the water into a pan instead of emptying it so much. However, do not let the water run outside. It will freeze, and the water coming from the hose could freeze. I am specifying and telling others about these various ways because this is the United States, and people don’t care to take the time to research how to use a product.UPDATE 06/26/2024:(See pix with UPDATE 06/26/2024 on it)99° outside and only 70.2° in our room above the garage. The other unit from a different brand never would have kept the room this cool. Those who claim the unit doesn’t work or is not cooling for them need to review the manual and check the hose or location where they placed the unit. I have had zero problems with it and am delighted with my purchase.UPDATE 06/03/2024:We have had hot temps over the last four days, and I am beyond happy with this unit. It is 4:08 pm and 68.6° in our bedroom. Outside, it is 87°. I mentioned the time because the sun is beating on the side of the house, and last year, we couldn’t keep the room below 77° with our other brand of portable AC unit. It has run all day, which is expected, but at night, it keeps the room cool and doesn’t run all night.UPDATE: 05/11/2024The dehumidifier works GREAT! We have had numerous storms lately due to hot weather. Of course, rain and hot weather make for humid, sticky conditions. When the Digital Hygrometer Indoor Thermometer Humidity Gauge says 60%, it’s time to use the dehumidifier. Each time I used it, about 2 hours later, the humidity in the room dropped to about 54-55%, which is within the range for summer. I must drain the unit once weekly if I’ve used the dehumidifier.Our bedroom is over our three-car garage; it is 425 sq—for the main bedroom and two closets. The central AC works fine for the bathroom. Even with a new heat pump for upstairs, it still doesn’t cool or heat our main bedroom.Firstly, I wasn’t playing around when ordering a new unit. I did my research. CONSUMER REPORTS, READ OVER 1,000 REVIEWS, and a recommendation from a TRUSTED STRAMFITTER (HVAC) guy. With the reviews, I noticed several things: most of the negative reviews were from frustrated people who, had they taken care of the device correctly, it would still be working. ALL portable AC units need DIY maintenance. Clean the filter and drain the unit at least once every 30 days in high humidity or every 90 days in low humidity. Even though it says EVAPORATION, it still needs to be drained. Another issue is that people ignore what they are ordering and then blame it on the companies when it is their lack of attention. Complaining and writing a review about a product they never used seems pointless. Remember, this is an investment; if something is missing when you open it, return it within 30 days and get a replacement. It’s that easy.I have 2 Digital Hygrometer Indoor Thermometer Humidity Gauge in the room. I placed one furthest from the unit and one on the unit. This way, I always know the temp & humidity in the room.THE SOUND: (WATCH VIDEO)The sound is EXACTLY as it is supposed to be. Those who stated it was too loud have never used an indoor portable AC unit. It’s not the same as a window unit. Window units have the motor and fans OUTSIDE the window, so the sound is different. If you stand outside next to a window unit when it is on, it is LOUD. Basically, the portable AC is quieter as a whole.THE WINDOW KIT: (See Pictures)This could be a little better. It almost didn’t fit my STANDARD window. I never use the FOAM that comes with the unit. I purchased weather-friendly, long-lasting foam instead. The foam they provide will get dried out and become dust.THE REMOTE:Very easy to use. Follow the manual.THE DISPLAY:Easy to understand & operate. Follow the manual.THE HEAT:Heats our room perfectly. We only keep it set at 68° because there isn’t a need for any warmer.THE A/C:Our bedroom is 425 sq ft, over a garage, and the sun beats in 2 of the four windows so badly that we had to black them out with Blackout Window Static Cling with White Side, Total Blackout Window. This unit cools the room rapidly and keeps it comfortable.I like that once the room reaches my chosen temperature, it shuts down but comes back on when it warms up by 1.0°. My other units ran non-stop. This functions more like an AC/HEAT PUMP.I’m impressed so far, and if anything changes, I will update this review to let others interested in purchasing this device know.This portable AC is exactly as advertised, well-made, and works well. The PRICE is in the usual range.

Love this machine, best of the other two I owned,(different brand) used to cool apt. In summer ,and heat in winter. More efficient than previous machines. Shipping box badly damaged when delivered, luckily, no damage to unit inside.

En si el producto está genial. Ha hecho su función solo qué hay veces se siente que no enfría correctamente un cuarto pequeño 3×3 sin embargo, al momento de quitar el filtro de polvo, el serpentín se ve dañado y pareciera que se sobrecalento y está café en una parte. Lo más probable es que lo devuelva para evitar algún incidente más adelante.———————————————–Actualización, al final no devolví el producto, lo que hice fue comprarle un protector para el tubo de plástico ya que se calentaba muchísimo, al implementarlo y ponerlo de una forma que de directamente a la cama, no solo refresca si no ha estado enfriando el espacio. El consumo de luz si fue bastante, vere como va este mes y si hubo diferencia de consumo electrico con el protector.

A/C with USA plug. We used 2 adapters and they are burned immideately.So its unuseful. What to do?
