A great smart phone detox device!
This is a great phone. over the years, my smart phone has taken over my life. the countless apps i have been installing, the endless you tube short scrolls, the countless news feeds i have been reading, the time consuming forwards from WhatsApp group messages, life seemed out of control.I did a switch to a dumb phone few years back. then went to samsclub, and didn’t have the store card. ( i use sto-card app to store store cards), to complete my purchase, I had to call my wife, get the sams club card number and make the purchase. this was very discouraging and after a week, i got cold feet and switched back to my samsung galaxy. This time around I have a samsung S22 and when the S24 was announced, I was very much tempted to go for it. samsung especially gives a good trade in price for old phones, i was offered $450. getting the S24 was no brainer. but again, i started thinking, how to make use of this opportunity to switch to a dumb phone so that i use my phone only for basic tasks and stop this mind numbing, screen staring addiction.my requirement was that i needed to use phone, text and WhatsApp. I have lot of international friends who communicate with me through whatsapp, so that was a must. later i felt i needed maps and an app to store my store cards. after much research and watching youtube videos , i decided to take the plunge.I am so glad i did and brought this phone. even thought this dura extreme plus phone says verizon, its an unlocked phone. i have spectrum mobile and swapping the sim card just made it work without any issues.its a basic phone, it runs android 10 i understood. following a youtube video, i unlocked the developer options and was able to sideload android apps by connecting to a pc and loading the apk files. i loaded whatsapp, Waze maps and sto card. ( see picture ). its been 2 weeks and i am a happy man reclaiming the time that would have been lost starting at my smart phone screen.some important points:1. not all features of WhatsApp work. text, picture messages, voice messages, WhatsApp web, WhatsApp app for mac ( WhatsApp for windows would also work, i haven’t tested though.) all works. WhatsApp call / video call does not work. ( this is because WhatsApp incoming call has a jumping icon and i have not found a way to click it.). as a workaround, I use my mac t o make and receive WhatsApp voice / video calls. the phone app would still ring and notifies me of the incoming call. so if I am outside, i can still make a direct call to the person who did a WhatsApp call to me.2. i could nt make google maps work, but wayz worked. the interface is clunky to type and click, but it works, i need this only in an emergency. if i always plan my drives of the places i am going , taking notes on a post it note like the pre mobile days, it works. In fact, i am now more directionally and geographically sensitive, previously i would just stare at my google maps app and numb my mind not knowing where i am driving, now i feel i am in better control of my drives.3. the sto card app really works. i could nt sign in to google to retrieve all my cards, but the app lets take pictures of bar codes and store it, so i did. the other day when i used my flip phone in ShopRite, the checkout girl was like what, you can store cards in a flip phone???one thing i still miss is my YouTube music app. that didn’t work, for some reason, login to google apps doesn’t work in this phone. but i miss it only when i drive, so i listen to news / gospel / classical music these days when i drive. i am becoming a more calmer person. its liberating!if you are like me helpless about your iPhone or samsung smart phone taking over your life, this phone might save your life!

Totally Lovin’ These Kyocera DuraXV Extreme Plus Flip Phones!
I bought 2 of these Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ Rugged Flip Phone-Black-Verizon (Renewed).WHY I ORDERED THESE FLIP PHONES: – My Husband and I live in a very rural location in North Idaho, located between 2 mountain ranges. – Ever since we had to buy new 4G capable phones, we have had horrid to no phone reception in our location! Major pain i the but for quite a few years now. – I ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy S22 PLUS phone, but the problem remained. Lousy Reception! – Cell Signal Boosters really did not help in this location either. – I read some very good things about the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ Rugged Flip Phones, so I ordered 2 of them.THE GOOD STUFF ABOUT THEM: – Both of these Kyocera Phones were refurbished and both arrived looking very close to new! – Each phone came from a different Amazon Seller, but were close to the same price. – We have been using these 2 Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ Flip Phones at our rural property for about 3 months now and they both work awesome! – These Flip Phones are so much easier and safer to carry around on our property than my larger, awkward, breakable Samsung Galaxy S22 PLUS phone. These phones fit great in a coat or shirt pocket, which works for hiking in the hills, brush and forests. – Both Phones are using the Verizon Network. – We get much better cell reception with these 2 Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ Flip Phones than I get with my Samsung Galaxy S22 PLUS phone! – You can even attach a wrist lanyard to these phones, but it needs to have the thin nylon loop to thread through the tiny slot and plastic bar on the back, right hand corner of the phone, when the back of the phone is facing you.THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF ABOUT THEM: – We can not think of anything negative to say about these Kyocera DuraXV Extreme Plus Flip Phones.CONCLUSION: – There are very limited phone case choices available for these Kyocera DuraXV Extreme Plus Phones. – We found that the Encased brand will fit these Kyocera DuraXV Extreme Plus Phones the best.– Encased DuraClip for Kyocera DuraXV Extreme/DuraXE Epic Belt Clip Case, Slim Fit Cover with Holster (Black) — – We don’t really use the clip/holster part of the Encased covers, but they do work very well. We prefer to only use the front and back plastic pop-on covers, and then just slip the phones in our pockets, fanny packs, day-bags, or my purse instead. – We both totally are in LOVE with these very awesome Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+ Flip Phones!

Very rugged old style flip phone
This phone is replacing one that fell off of the car down the highway (did not survive asphalt at 70 mph). The refurbished phone I received was in a 7/10 condition. Scratches on the screen and the battery cover does not fit well, like it has been heated or bent. This phone will likely NOT live up to the water/moisture resilience as a new one would.

Excellent choice for those who don’t want a smart phone…
I wanted to get away from my smart phone because I was spending every vacant moment staring at it and just became hooked on it. This phone answers my needs perfectly — talk, photos, and text when necessary. Battery life is superb and lasts 3 days because…(wait for it) I’m not on it like I used to. Other good features are that it and its belt case are extremely rugged.Altho it isn’t a smart phone, there are still many features included in a smart phone. Texting, camera, calendar, contacts. Texting gets a little getting use to, but does work fine. The camera is ‘ok’; photos transfer easily thru Bluetooth.

    Flippin’ Cool Phone….
Received phone on expected date of delivery. Description (in a word): Outstanding! Phone was sought out and purchased solely based upon its capability to function on voice-dialing (it works quite well). As far as the design and build quality of this product, it is (and will most likely remain) the state-of-the-art basic cellular telephone for the foreseeable future. Comparable to the Bose 901, the Gibson Les Paul, or the valve amp [and Rock ‘n’ Roll]; it’s probably here to stay!
