It Works!
Bought it as an upgrade for my Steam Deck OLED, I cloned my original drive to this one, and it’s been running great. Reported speeds are about 3500MB/s read, 3000MB/s write, which is plenty for a steam deck. I took a risk and bought this nvme for 104$ and it paid off.

It’s good, but very hot.
Don’t buy it without getting it a heatsink .

pretty fast ssd
Product description states max write maximum write speed is up to 2700MB/sMy testing shows about 300MB/s write of 5G file from Windows 11 cache over USB C 3.0I’m sure the numbers are much better in a pcie slot but I’m using this as an external USB drive

Small and Fast
This is a small size form factor m.2 drive that is NVME type perfect for fitting into smaller size m.2 compatible devices such as the Stream Deck. The size I got was a decent 500GB capacity that fit well within other type of m.2 devices such as a compatible PC and external m.2 card reader or enclosure. The speeds were on par with the claims and had no drops in consistency when transfering large files onto the drive. The Fikwot brand might not be a forefront brand that is on the common marketplace, but I have heared others mention they are a core manufaturer that produces these drives for various companies, but I don’t want to parrot other claims without verification. What I can attest to is I have another m.2 drive of larger capacity I have been using for almost a year now and I have yet to have any issues. They are fast and reliable in that sense. The quality of these drives appear very well made, well labelled, and so far fairly reliable. The price point is attractive and I would definitely consider this brand for my future storage needs, applications and upgrades.

Transfer speeds don’t meet specs when used in USB4 enclosure
I ordered the 500GB NVMe M.2 2230 SSD for its compact size. I have it currently installed in a larger USB4 enclosure with the intent to order an appropriately sized enclosure for greater portability. For now the larger enclosure will do.Near one corner of the SSD is a small green LED that lights when there is read/write activity.I am using this SSD with a Mac so I formatted it using APFS. The formatted storage capacity is 499.9GB.I used both Blackmagic Disk Speed Test and Amorphous Disk Mark to run some read/write tests using a 2 GB file size. I have attached screenshots of the findings.According to the product listing this SSD has a sequential read speed of 4,850 MB/s but attached to a Thunderbolt/USB4 port I was able to achieve only 3,000 MB/s with write speeds less than half that. Still quite reasonable and maybe the slower speeds are due to macOS and externally connected SSDs.A thin sticker is applied to the surface of the SSD that acts as a heat sink. I added a thin thermal pad on top to try to keep the SSD cooler as it does get quite hot without that. While the read/write speeds don’t approach those of the drive’s design limits in my setup they are definitely acceptable for my portable drive use case.

Cool and reliable 2230 SSD
The drive runs fine at the speeds I’ve connected it to. 10gbps or 1000MB/s over USB-C which is what my controller currently supports, though I’m planning to use it in a PCIE4 device down the road to make use of the full speeds or maybe upgrade a 3.0 laptop (still deciding). For more storage capacity it’s recommended to use 3.0 drives, but for maxing out speeds I like going to the next drive up since they will hit the previous gen speeds with less effort. The pad does a good job of keeping it cool and is nice to have, though SSDs are meant to run warm so thermal throttling isn’t going to be a limiting factor even without it realistically. For the price it’s really great and competitive when you compare all of the specs. I like it and do recommend!
