Bought this for a 25 watt radio base station. Solid. Running it for three hours, I never heard the fan at all. Will update as needed but so far, this was a perfect beginner’s base station power supply.

I would say that my needs mostly involve testing circuits and not so much for powering devices for long-periods, so I can’t speak to that but wouldn’t have any doubt it would cover that need all the same

Most reasonable priced unit for a bench supply. Was delivered sooner than expected. Have only used two times so can not comment much on durability. Seems a very solid, well designed unit. Would have liked more options as to connecting to units power output knobs.

I was using a 1.75 amp power supply to run one of my two way radios, just wasn’t putting out enough power so radio was operating poorly. This 5 amp Pyramid is awesome, got a great radio report the first time I keyed up the mic. with this hooked up,. I have another Pyramid power supply I have been running for over a decade but it is a 52 amp variable. They are well built & excellent power supplies. Thanks!

This power supply SUCKS!They market it as a 5 Amp continuous, 7 Amp peak supply. THEY LIE!!!I bought it to run an old Igloo powered cooler that I measured as drawing just over 4 Amps continuous. I thought this supply is the ticket to replace the failed switch mode power supply that came with the cooler. Wrong…..The Pyramid runs the cooler fine – until it over heats and shuts down. It powers up again when the thermal overtemp switch cools off and shuts down repeatedly. I estimated the on/off duty cycle was about 40/60.I went back to running the cooler on another power supply. I moved the Pyramid to run a string of LED light strip in my office. They draw 1.4A at 12 Volts and I have the same problem – overheating and shut down. I attached some supplemental heat sinks on the 2N3055 pass transistor and it did not help. When I use the power supply to run the LEDs for an hour or so, the power supply case is about 125° F – very warm to the touch. It barely passes the “5-Second Rule” for hot components. The rear heat sinks are too hot to touch for any period of time. Overall – a poorly designed supply and liable for false advertising on Amazon. Not recommended – Zero stars.
