Making reading easier on this palm reader!
The BOOX Palma 2 Mobile ePaper is an impressive and practical device that Iâm really happy with. Its sleek white design is clean and modern, and itâs light enough to carry around easily, making it perfect for reading or working on the go. The ePaper display is fantasticâeasy on the eyes with sharp, clear text that feels like reading actual paper, even in bright sunlight. I love the fingerprint recognition, which makes unlocking the device quick and secure, and the smart button is intuitive for easy navigation. The dual speakers deliver surprisingly good sound for its size, perfect for listening to audiobooks or podcasts, and the microphones work well for voice commands. Plus, the battery life is amazingâit lasts for days without needing a charge, thanks to the energy-efficient ePaper screen. Overall, the BOOX Palma 2 is a versatile, high-quality device that combines great reading features with extra functionality, making it well worth the investment.

Great little e-reader!
First impressions: Feels well-built, light and extremely comfortable to hold. The ultra fast mode is amazing. I could not detect PWM using my photodiode-oscilloscope setup, so they are probably using DC dimming, which is a good thing. Lastly, I really wish it was a phone!

Very Close to a perfect device, buuuuuuut nope.
Pros.Amazing form factor.Great sounding speakers. (For a phone)Good build quality.Great connectivity.Responsive, well thought out and great looking UX.Good battery life.Access to the Android Play store.Apps run extremely well.Screen performs well in certain use cases.Cons.The screen is not acceptable at HD refresh.Refresh degradation seen on device I used the longest…a week.I ordered multiple units from Amazon to remedy the lines seen in the image I provided but all of them exhibited the same lines running down the length of the screen while using the much advertised HD refresh mode. This effectively ruins the experience of viewing Manga or comics on this device and renders the mode unusable outside of black or white gradients in my opinion. The lines are nearly identical on every device which to me betrays either a manufacturing issue or a hardware issue with the screen. Perhaps a software issue but I would think there would be more variation in the defect if it were software. Regardless it doesn’t matter to the user what the problem is because I was unable to remedy it despite the updates or deep dives into the settings.I also saw one of the devices exhibit worsening ghosting issues the longer I used it. I factory reset the device and it still required more hard presses of the refresh button to clear the screen. So that was worrisome as well.Conclusion.If you just want to read books on this, you will never see the lines even if you use HD refresh. They are only visible in the lighter greyscale gradients and are not present on the other refresh modes. The other refresh modes however display grainy images so not ideal for comics or manga or anything really that you need clarity in an image.I loved using the thing. The reading experience is better than any e-ink device I have used and though I would also be concerned about the ghosting getting worse over time, I haven’t seen this complaint in the many other reviews I read before purchasing this so I may have had a particularly bad unit. I did read about the HD refresh being poor so I’m guessing that is just how most if not all of them are. Too bad. I really wanted to add this to my daily routine.

Great concept but not justifiable
I loved it. Or I wanted to love it. I returned it because I was hoping to have it as a secondary device when needed a break from my smartphone. However, apps that I use for work didn’t completely work. Mainly the location aspect. It couldn’t find and maintain an accurate location. Even while connected to wifi. I also wanted three fingerprint scanner but that was shoddy at best. 9.5 times out of 10 it wouldn’t recognize any of them. I did 5 fingers and it only recognized one specific finger when it actually recognized it.I could no longer justify keeping it at the amount I spent. It’s a great device but it feels cheap. The screen is prone to smudging and it doesn’t seem easy to clean. There are some pros though. The screen is easy on the eyes of course. I didn’t prefer the back light but it helps. It’s lightweight if you’re looking for that. I prefer something with a little more weight to it that doesn’t feel like it’ll fly out of my hand at one wrong move. I did enjoy reading a book on it but I think I’d like something bigger.Menus are not intuitive. It can be a little clunky navigating and making it your own but since I’m an Android user, I was able to figure it out. It just doesn’t seem sophisticated but I’m used to flagship Samsung phones and it was hard to adapt.Again, if it’s something simple that you’re looking for to read on, it works. Everything else, not so much. MAYBE if you have the patience for it or don’t require much. But almost $300 is too much for this.

Not user friendly. Horrible Functionality.
I purchased the worthless white BOOX PALMA 2.If you are using this product for READING ONLYâ¦.get a Kindle basic along with LIBBY/HOOPLA etc.the setting of each individual setting every time you use device is ridiculous. Too much this and that just to read a book!!! A lot of ghosting. Too much resetting with each use.Itâs like having a cell phone in your hand. Too small for my liking. And letâs not mention the PRICE!! OMG!! I kept it for a week and returned. Not for âmeâ. You do you if you just âwantâ this thing. Itâs definitely not a âneedâ!It may be âpurseâ size like a cell phone, but my kindle basic travel the same. So, imo, worthless and cheaply made. I âthoughtâ I wanted this based if Tik Tok views. I was WRONG!!Bewareâ¦.functionality and lag is horrible!!!!Trust me, a lot of these devices will be returned.
