    solid laptop
Good solid laptop overall. Good value for the price. CPU and GPU performance is very good. Screen is good; keyboard and touchpad are nice, but the keyboard is not backlit. The speakers are on the bottom of the laptop, so sound quality is not so good. The laptop has a lightweight but durable feel to it. Windows 11 feels big and a bit sluggish at times, but the good thing is Asus didn’t bloat it up, they just added one support app as far as I can tell. This review is for model X1605ZA.

    A really decent processor
I was hoping to get a processor with an Intel i7 processor, but with my budget in play, had to settle for the i5 processor on this laptop. After the fact, I cannot say ‘I settled’, because the processor in this laptop is much faster than I had anticipated. I mean the boot time is asymptotically i7 fantastic. At the timing of my purchase, I did not note the ‘lie flat’ feature of this laptop, a feature which given I primarily use the laptop with an external screen has come in really handy. Really nice feature. Highly recommend.

    Good laptop for the price
Got this awhile back. Will try to hit everything.Build quality is good. Even though it is totally made of plastic, it doesn’t feel or look cheap. It does pick up fingerprints quite easily though. The blue color is gorgeous!Keyboard works well. Not a lot of travel to the keys, and it’s not backlit, but it works well. Trackpad is plastic and can be temperamental if you have any kind of liquid on your fingers. Lots of useful shortcuts on the keyboard.Processor, which is the i5-1235u was actually nice. For the price, this machine is dang snappy! Running basic programs is a breeze and some lightweight gaming via Eternium and Legends of Runeterra was smooth and enjoyable.Built in webcam is nothing special but also not horrible.Battery life seems average though I must admit this mostly stays attached to the cord in my bedroom. Battery health is still at 98% after almost a year of ownership with it almost constantly plugged in.SSD is quick and it boots up fast. Was gonna expand the storage and RAM but one of the screws on the bottom casing just does not want to unscrew and might be tightened too much or I ended up stripping it. Not sure which it was. It’s not super lightweight but it’s not a behemoth. For the $400 I paid for it, can’t really complain.Oh, but there is one complaint. The screen. Yes it’s big and Full HD but unless you have it angled JUST right it can look rather washed out with poor contrast. At that perfect angle it does indeed look great though

    Slow and lagging
I don’t know much about computers but I’ve been using it for less than 30 days and it’s starting to be very slow. Search engines taking too long for this day and age to load, trying to watch a show on a streaming service isn’t loading and affecting the quality of the show. Now this can’t be the internet because my roommate’s laptop works fine. Also to the person who was trying to call out someone else for it not being touch screen, if something is ADVERTISED and it’s not available they have every right to complain about it, it’s RIDICULOUS for you to even mention themI’m giving another update :It says it’s 512 GB storage but under system>storage it shows 475GB. Plus I have not added any photos, videos, or other programs except downloaded 2 browsers and it’s already at 64.7 GB user with only 411GB available. My old laptop which is 13 years old has more storage and was able to handle multiple programs open open tabs without being so slow. This computer slows if you play one video and have one tab open. I only have a few days left before I can’t return it and I’m just frustrated what the issue is and would be so annoyed if I have to return and search for a new laptop.

    Very good laptop!
I bought this laptop for my 10 year old daughter. She seems to love it, and she is getting used to typing and doing everything on the computer, which is essential knowledge these days. I got it on sale for $399+tax during the Prime Big Deal Days Event. Very good processor, and it’s a better laptop than the one I use for myself! I’ve never purchased Asus before, and am happy with the purchase and would recommend this brand. Solid deal! This can do everything you need it to do, assuming you aren’t using it as a hardcore gaming computer. The screen is also very nice. I don’t often write Amazon reviews, but felt compelled to write this review. Have a good one!

Like the laptop, not so sure about Windows 11
Like the laptop! Much different then any of the prior laptops I’ve had. Surprised how much cooler this one is, maybe its the SSD. Still not quite comfortable with the touch pad control without control buttons, but I’ll get used to it in time, I guessBattery life seems short, but maybe that’s just because everything is taking a little longer because I’m not yet used to the machine

I feel like I made the right choice
I’m really happy with the choice. I already own two other laptops, but I needed a Windows device for a specific program I’m using at university, and this has been perfect. The 14” screen size is just right for something you’ll carry everywhere – big enough to work comfortably but compact enough to fit easily in a backpack. Plus, it’s light, which makes it convenient to carry around. For those wondering, it uses an NVMe SSD, but there’s no extra port for adding another SSD, so keep that in mind if you need additional storage later. I’ve added a picture with a water bottle next to the laptop so you can get a sense of the size. All in all, this laptop has been great, and I’m very satisfied with it!

    Quirky Touch pad
I like this laptop nice price and performance it would get 5 stars if not for the funky touch pad which at time seems to have a mind of it’s own. I use it with a mouse since the touch pad became so frustrating to use. I set the touch pad to disable when mouse is connected. I did re-image the OS to Windows 11 Professional rather than Home and to remove all the ASUS bloatware. I would recommend it as maybe you can find the quirky touch pad better to use than I. But very happy with the laptop 16GB Ram, 12 gen i5, Intel IRIS display and 500gb SD very good for the price. Perfect for me – streaming, browsing and MS Office.
