Has a pop up web cam but no optical drive
I don’t view this PC as one power users will select so I rated it solely as a PC for the masses who will use it for email, word processing, internet surfing and video streaming. For those functions, the HP All-in-One performed quite well and should be satisfactory to anyone who uses it. The included 32 GB RAM and 1 TB of SSD is probably twice as much as most people will need. There’s a nice assortment of ports on the back – 1 USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, 4 USB-A and an audio/mic jack. There is no optical drive provided but not many people use them anymore anyway.Audio quality from the built in speakers was decent enough but audio quality was much better when connected via Bluetooth to headphones. Bluetooth range was very good – I could still stay connected from two rooms away with obstructions in between. WiFi performance was also impressive. Using the Ookla Speedtest I got 484 Mb/s – that’s only 10 Mb/s slower than my PC that is connected directly to the router via an ethernet cable. The pop up webcam is a nice touch. It’s nice to know just by looking at the monitor when you can be seen. It worked well for facial recognition. The monitor was the one area that almost caused me to dock a star. It’s not that it isn’t good – it just doesn’t compare to what I’m used to seeing. However, that’s not a fair comparison since I normally use a 28″ 4K monitor.I also wasn’t too impressed with the included keyboard and mouse. The keyboard keys have little tactile feedback and felt mushy to me. The keycaps aren’t loose but they sound like they are. There’s nothing wrong with the mouse – it is just a plain jane without any extra features and it’s not my preferred shape. Since these are personal preference items I didn’t deduct any points for them.I didn’t do any research to make a determination of how good a value this is. I’m really not a big fan of All-in-Ones as I like the ability to update graphics boards, drives, RAM, etc. and I don’t like ditching a good monitor just because another component failed and can’t be replaced. My gut feeling is you could get equivalent performance at a lower price point but it might be from a no name company instead of HP.In summary, this is a pretty good PC that most people would be quite happy with. It would be even more attractive if HP would make the following changes -1. Offer a 4K monitor as an option2. Supply wireless keyboard and mouse (who wants all those wires when trying to have a clean desktop)3. Offer the PC in black (sorry Apple but white components in some home offices is just plain ugly)

    Mixed Feelings
I got this computer in the 8gb, 256gb SSD configuration. I got it because I wanted a dedicated workstation to attach to my laser engraver. I knew the memory was on the low side but figured that it is easy enough to upgrade memory in a computer and it was not worth the extra $200 to buy the next configuration up with 16gb and a 512gb SSD. Well, you can’t upgrade the memory in this computer. The 8gb is permanently attached and there are no slots for a memory upgrade. I was very disappointed to see this and quite frankly I have no idea why HP would have done this.As for the computer in its current configuration, it seems to be working fine with my laser engraver software. The speed is good enough and I don’t need much drive space. The overall feel of this computer is that it was made with cost savings in mind. The mouse and keyboard feel very cheap like those $15 combos you can get. They are also wired and not wireless. The screen is not a touch screen as you would find in a lot of these all-in-one computers but again, that is not a deal breaker for me.This computer is probably perfect for the person that will be surfing the net, doing online shopping, or maybe paying bills. It is NOT for gaming or any programs that are processor or memory intensive. Would be a decent computer for a general location in the house where anyone can jump on it and look something up. I would have given it 5 stars if it were not for the memory not being upgradable. Because of that this computer has a limited shelf life.

Solid HP computer, but you can do better for less, even within HP
I’ll start off by saying I am heavily biased toward HP and Dell for their quality, easy documentation, and straightforward things like driver updates. That said, this is a decent AIO (all in one) machine, but for the price, I would expect a keybaord that has a more premium feel. The included one definitely goes with the asthetic, but it feels cheap. Even a white chiclet stile keyboard would be an upgrade, and you can do that yourself for about 20 bucks.Beyond that, 8 gigs isn’t a lot of memory anymore. Neither is a 256gb drive. To be honest, pairing this with a ryzen 5 over a ryzen 3 seems like an odd choice.Let me make this very clear: You’re paying a heavy premium for this to be an all in one. You could get an HP laptop with more power for the same cost. Or a more powerful HP desktop with the monitor being separate for less cost. This also doesn’t have touch capability, though there are configurations of this VERY same model that do. Not including that as a configurable option here for this listing is further perplexing.Yes, get an HP. Yes, this one can be good if you throw a better keyboard. No, it’s not worth over 500 bucks in the base configuration, and if you bump it up to the 15GB ram confugration, then it costs as much as an EliteOne, which is a far better version of this.Don’t get me wrong – I’ll keep this and it’s decent, but I can’t recommend it given HP’s other offerings.
