Definite upgrade from my GeForce 8400GS
I have had the GeForce 8400GS for about two years and it worked well and was what was put in my system when it was built at a local shop. The problem is that it only had one DVI output and I always intended to run two monitors and never really thought much about it. Where I originally had my monitors I used the VGA port as my main and the one with the DVI as the secondary—- when I moved everything around I swapped the monitor positions and realized how much better the one with the DVI input was (both monitors are the same brand and model). So with that I did some research and there were some basic criteria: dual DVI output, more memory, and price. I am not into gaming as this systems is for work, so I don’t need killer frame rates, but moreover I needed clarity. Well, the swap couldn’t have gone any easier as I deleted the old interface software, shut the machine down, installed the new card (now both on DVI) and fired it back up. Once in, I popped in the disc and installed the interface only as that is all that I need. The result? Now they are both crisp and clear and you cannot tell them apart in color, resolution, etc. Price was good at $[…] and a $[…] rebate makes it $[…]– plus as a bonus I just sold the 8400GS card for $[…] , so in the end it made it a $[…] investment. What I have noticed is better overall system speed and clarity is as good as the monitors will ever be.

    Excellent Value
My old graphics card fan failed after 4 years and I was looking around for a replacement for it. I bought the EVGA GeForce 9500GT graphics card one month ago because the reviews for it were good, it wasn’t that expensive, and it was an upgrade compared to what I had in there. It was extremely easy to install. Literally remove the old card and slide in the new one. The card has no additional power cords to hitch up; all the power comes through the PCI Express slot. It comes with a driver, but the one that installed automatically when I turned on the computer has been working fine. Also, my slot is version 1.x but the card has been working without any problems even though it is version 2.0.The performance and been great, but then my old card was a Geforce 7600GT so I would expect to notice an improvement. It is also pretty quiet. I notice the fan turning on when I’m doing something that is graphics intensive but it isn’t annoyingly loud, and under normal use I do not hear it at all. The card has two DVI outputs but if you are still using VGA it comes with adapters so you can use the older cables. All in all I would highly recommend this card if you’re looking around for a mid-range graphics card.

    Nice card for the price
I was shopping around for a card with dual DVI and I didn’t want to spend a whole lot more than the price of this card. I searched around and it was well reviewed, though it is certainly nowhere near the best, most powerful, or newest kid on the block, as was also made clear in all the reviews I read. That’s OK by me; I just run basic Office programs and internet and wanted to have my 24 and 22″ monitors, as well as the capability to play videos. This card plugged right into my Dell Dimension E521 and has been humming along just fine now for well over 6 months; not a single hitch.I run Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and this card works just fine. Plugged it in, booted up the machine, installed the drivers, and it’s been perfect ever since then. Note that you certainly do want to have the most current drivers possible; my machine was taking about an extra 60 seconds to boot until I installed the latest drivers for this card.

    Good Value For The Price
Bought this to replace fried original 8800GT from Dell XPS 420. Took a while trying to figure out which new model would be similar. 9500 vs. 8800 – bigger number is better? Not necessarily. Also, there seems to be about a million different combinations available of clock speed, memory, shader clock, outputs, etc.. I only wanted something of similar performance or slightly better since I don’t do gaming and the computer is about 3 years old. No sense in buying more than you need.Talked to EVGA reps several times to get a recommendation on a replacement since I am a novice at computer stuff. Got different answers each time. The hangup was trying to figure out my power supply +12 volt rail and the amperage requirement. My power supply is a 375 watt Dell. That is certain. The problem is figuring out how many amps it is capable of on this +12 volt rail. Looking at the data sticker, it seemed to indicate a limit of 18 amps on the +12VA and the -12VA rail. (It does not actually say “rail”). I finally settled on this model because of the price and power supply limitations and the dual dvi outputs. The weird thing is, when I got this one I noticed it was shorter than the one I took out and it was lacking a power plug connector that the old one used. I again called EVGA and the rep said the connector was not used on the new card because it was not as powerful as the one I took out. It got all it’s power from the PCI X16 slot. I could have went with a more powerful card that has the connectors and that my power supply was capable of running more than 18amps since it had that connector installed. What?!?! He suggested that I would not be happy with this and should return it and go with one of the stronger cards.I didn’t feel like going through that since my computer was almost unusable without the card. So I just tucked the power cable into the machine and used the EVGA Precision tool included in the CD-ROM to tweak up the speed of the card to bring the windows experience score up to match the rest of the limiting factors. You can fine tune the core clock, the shader clock and the memory clock but not the fan speed. So far, I have had it installed for about a month with no issues. It works, it’s quiet and it was relatively inexpensive. I chose EVGA because they seemed to have a good reputation and their reps were friendly and they spoke English because they are in California.

It’s ok for the price but…
This product is good if you need a graphics card and are low on cash, otherwise i’d stick to higher end brand name ones. It claims to be better then it actually is but does work for what it’s needed for. I only used it long enough to save money to get a better graphics card when my old one fried.
