Oh, so wonderful!!!
Iâm having ankle surgery one week from today, and I received this device today…in time to have some trial runs before having to operate it by myself at home post-op while on drugs. I read all the way through the instructions before doing anything, then I went step-by-step with the instructions during set-up. Couldnât have been easier, and it feels soooooo good on my sore, swollen pre-op ankle. Previous reviews mentioned and showed photos of disintegrated hoses, but the photos appear to show possibly an older plastic version of the tubing. The tubing on mine is very substantial pliable rubber. Itâs actually rather heavy, and I canât imagine that it will disintegrate any time soon. I am using frozen ice packs in the reservoir with the required amount of water, and itâs circulating ice cold water through the pad. For now, I can say without reservation that this was a wise purchase. I anticipate that it will serve me well post-op. Iâll try to remember to update this review in a couple of weeks.Update – 08/04/18I have been using this pretty much 24/7 for the past week and a half post-op. For the most part, Iâve used frozen chemical ice packs inside, instead of ice, alternating with a couple small glass food dishes filled with water and frozen. Iâve all but stopped using the chemical packs now, though, because after repeated use they start to break down and leak bits of gel into the water. Iâm sure thatâs not great for keeping the tubing clear. Live and learn. I still swear by this unit and feel like it has been a lifesaver to keep the bruising and swelling almost non-existent after surgery. Thatâs saying something, since I am on lifetime Warfarin. I had to go off it and bridge with Lovenox prior to/after surgery, so Iâm very prone to bruising. I dreaded what I expected for bruising/swelling post-op, so I have been pretty aggressive with using this machine, and it has paid off. Once this ankle heals, I have to have the other one done. Hopefully this machine will still work as well for the next one. If not, itâs been worth every penny this time around.

Life Saver!
Just had my 3rd surgery a couple weeks ago. This machine has been a life saver through all three. Nothing relieves the pain and swelling like 15-20 minutes on this thing. I have been able to use a minimum amount of the nasty drugs for pain and get off them quickly. I wouldnât be without this machine for a surgery or other injury. It is 10x better than an ice pack because you get total coverage plus compression from the wrap. Thereâs a little bit of a learning curve figuring out how to get the wrap on how you like it (and be sure to get the one made specifically for the injured area), but itâs really easy to use. I do use frozen water bottles instead of ice because itâs clean and simple and saves water from loads of ice. This is so worth the investment. I used my first one for 6 years, 2 surgeries, and 3 friends borrowed it for their injuries and surgeries. The pump finally went out after all that, and I purchased another for this last surgery. Hopefully this one will last just as long! Highly recommend.

Ice pack works better than this expensive machine
I ordered this a few weeks before my knee was being scoped because I wanted to be sure I had it in time and I wasn’t sure how long it would take to receive it. I got it quicker than I thought I would (based on how long I’ve waited for other amazon items I’ve ordered). It does NOT work well at all! It doesn’t get cold enough. It is a waste of money! Do not order this machine! I attempted to return it due to the fact that it doesn’t perform AS DESCRIBED by the vendor. Both the vendor QUANTUM DENTAL AND AMAZON are refusing to let me return because it was ONE day past the 30 days for returns deadline. I explained to both why it was past 30 days, I got it so early ( not typical for amazon vendors) I had it for weeks before my surgery and hadn’t used it until AFTER my surgery. Tried it 3 times adjusted the setting to max and it still didn’t work, I had to switch to ice packs that actually work. I now own a $175.00 (cost of machine and pad) door stop and use a functional ice pack from Walgreens on my knee! I was a frequent customer of Amazon I mean WAS. This mess with the ice machine is a deal breaker. I’m done with Amazon! Urgent care makes this machine but the seller is called Quantum Dental! Their customer service is horrible, don’t do business with them!

A very convenient and well engineered product.
After two complete knee replacements (left and right leg), within the time period of a 5 months, icing is a necessity to cut the swelling. Tried using zip-lock bags filled with ice and wrapped up in a pillow case: it was difficult to position, always seemed wet from both ice melting and from condensation. I purchased the Cold Rush a few weeks after my first surgery: what a difference. Convenient and comfortable. The whole concept is extremely simple. The Cold Rush is essentially an insulated cooler with a small pump similar to recirculate water through the pad. It doesn’t leak, is easy to fill and refill, and eliminates all of the mess of soggy ice bags, wrapped in a towel.I purchased the unit only and matched it with a Cold Rush knee pad. Included with the pad are two Velcro straps which hold the pad in place without exerting much pressure. I highly recommend the unit for both convenience and as a better alternative to ice bags. If I was purchasing the unit now, with what I know: I’d have bought the smaller unit, (no need for quite so much ice as this unit will hold, and I would opt for the universal pad. It will work as well as the knee pad, (assuming there is not a need for an opening for the knee), as well as being useable for other situations (shoulder, hip, arm etc.). When I initially read some of the reviews it was pointed out that the pads are not warranted as they are considered a “single-use item”, (obviously the pads would be discarded after each use in a hospital or professional therapy environment). I have used the knee pad many times without any indications that it is wearing out, if used carefully should perform well for many uses.
