This thing has the sauce.
Great for video editing in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro. I’ve noticed a good performance boost when using it to create motion graphics inside the Fusion tab of Resolve, much faster than the Intel i9 9920x I was using. It also renders out projects very fast which is great in case I need to go back and render something out again. My first AMD processor and I couldn’t be happier. The only thing to look out for is the heat this thing generates, using a Noctua NH-U14S, but it’s not the recommended fan cooler for this CPU. The only coolers on the recommended list for this CPU are liquid coolers to my knowledge (as of 2/22/2020). Excellent CPU, worth the $$$ and switch to AMD.

Bought used but works perfectly.
I bought this to upgrade from a first Gen and get pci 4 capability. Even used works great and significantly increased performance.

Arrived well packaged. It was in working order upon arrival.

May be best value of the new thread rippers.
I Got this last week. I own a threadripper 3970x But. that is more costly then this one so I decided to buy this for my second threaddripper build. I used the same Asus mother board. I used the same be quiet air cooled cpu cooler. I went with the same 500gb Aorus nvme 2 ssd. I used a corsair rm850x psu and 8 sticks of hyperx 16gb ram for a total of 128gb ram. I mine with this machine Xmr/monero this machine cost me a lot less then my 3970x build.Which is same motherboard ,same cooler, same nvme ssd. I am happy with this after 10-14 days of running it is nice.this machine does 21-22k hash ratethe more expensive machine does 27-28k hash rate.this build. was 35% cheaper. and I get 25% less hash not 35% less so this has more value.

Yes- Great product
A bit pricy, but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. It is hot. I use an EVGA 360mm cooler. Which keeps it between 45 and 50C at idle, but under 100% all core stress, the temp limit of 95C is hit. Not sure if that’s because there is not enough capacity in the cooler, or the paste isn’t sufficient, or the heat sink isn’t a good match for the size of the CPU. Not a fault of AMD, but something to consider when purchasing.

Processor worked as described.
Processor worked out great however the seller failed to mention that didnât come with the rise and thread ripper tool. It didnât have it very well described on the website. The seller did however refund me $25 to make up for the missing tool so I could purchase one online to be able to install my processor.

3D scans to AI 3D rotations and video.
I’ve had the 24 core version since June ’21 in my own custom 128GB workstation build. I’ve pegged it out many times all 24 cores humming away at rendering 3D scanner files in minutes rather than hours and hours. Fun to watch the action on NZXT system monitor as the Threadripper cranks away.Since last December I dove in to AI art with Stable Diffusion-XL. Now the workload has shifted over to my RTX-4000 vid card and is now getting pegged out rather than the Threadripper since AI is geared towards the parallel processing power of graphics cards. Normal 1024 renders in about 15 to 20 seconds. However, when I found a suitable AI workflow to generate rotated 3D images only then did SDXL employ the muscle of the Threadripper to almost 60% rather than 5 to 10% for normal renders. Rotated 3D images took about 70 seconds.Stable Diffusion now offers AI video and SDXL Turbo. Judging from past performance with current AI 3D rotations and morphs to 3D scan render technology, I have complete confidence the 3960X is up to the task when SDXL serves it a load.

Very disappointed!!!
For $1900 i expected more than an OEM CPU tray with a processor that may or may have not been used before. The OEM tray was sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardboard with a rubber band around it and tape. There were no accessories included as pictured in the description pictures. Avoid this seller at all costs. False advertising!!!

Exelente procesador, mejoro los tiempos de render en comparación a dos xeones 2697v3. Llego muy bien empacado y en el tiempo acordado.

Upgraded from a 2700x to this with an Asus sTRX 40-E Gaming. the quad channel memory is INSANELY fast. I load games like Resident Evil 3 in about 5 seconds paired with a Radeon VII with water cooling for both.I run NPlus Miner for crypto mining on this and it runs at 50c at full load with a 360x 60mm thick rad.Worth every penny!

The retail packaging is rather elaborate and seems rather more for jewellery (which it shares the price with). However the chip is delivered well protected. It is supplied with a torque wrench to ensure that the bolts locking down the holder on the mainboard are not overtightened. The chip is not supplied with a cooler, so you must find one yourself and ensure that you have the right thermal paste. For gaming it is great but possibly not the best value for money now. Where it excels are apps with lots of threads so graphics/video processing as well as AI/ML.For best performance, you need the right motherboard, I went for the Aorus TRX40 Master and the bios supported this processor out of the box

Works well. Used conductonaut compound on it with a Noctua (dual fan) cooler and it runs at 60C under full load with the fans basically running silently. The huge surface area of the package probably helps.

If you want a CPU that supports 256GB of RAM as QUAD channel (not dual) and has PCIE lanes in abundance, then this is a CPU for you. This is one of the very last CPUs that is affordable with these specifications.I do finite element analysis FEA. I do benefit significantly from more memory channels and a 256GB ECC RAM size, PCIE lanes etc. The 5950x and the 12900k go only up to 128gb and ECC support is not easy.It is still a bargain compared to the 5965WX Threadripper Pro which is listed for thousands more.It is still faster than the 12900k in memory intensive applications such as FEA. 7zip benchmark is attached.
