Compact formfactor. spacious outlets. Reliable.
Great UPS devices. Would buy again. Currently own 3 of them.
Make sure to open the panel on the bottom to connect the battery. I recommend keeping the test results receipt attached to the UPS, so that you know how old the device is, and can replace the battery when the time comes. estimate for most people is 5 years or so.

I use this in a home office environment

Cons:
packaging is mostly paper, but there’s still some plastic involved.

Gives me peace of mind!
In an era where digital work and entertainment are central to our lives, the Battery Backup and Surge Protector has emerged as a true lifesaver. This device isn’t just another addition to your tech arsenal; it’s a robust guardian that ensures your digital world remains uninterrupted and protected.
From the get-go, the setup process was a breeze, allowing me to connect all my essential components simultaneously. Whether it’s my computer, monitor, or modem, everything now runs through this single, efficient unit. The convenience of having everything tied into one reliable source cannot be overstated.
The surge protection feature provides immense peace of mind. Living in an area prone to sudden electrical surges, I’ve always worried about the safety of my electronics. This device has put those fears to rest. The first time we experienced a power surge, the Battery Backup and Surge Protector lived up to its promise, safeguarding my equipment without a hitch.
But the real game-changer has been the battery backup functionality. The ability to keep my computer running during a power outage is invaluable, especially when unsaved work is at stake. It gives me ample time to save my documents and shut down properly, preventing potential data loss and hardware damage. This level of protection and reliability is exactly what anyone working from home, gaming, or simply managing a digital household needs.
In conclusion, this Battery Backup and Surge Protector is a must-have for anyone looking to protect their tech investments while ensuring uninterrupted power supply. Its ability to support multiple components, combined with exceptional surge protection and battery backup, makes it a standout product. Highly recommended for the peace of mind and reliability it brings to any tech setup!

Good battery and surge support in a reasonable size package
Many years ago, a local power surge (the odd thunderbolt) blew out the CPU on an iMac even through a typical power surge protected multi-plug surge protected electrical cord extenders. At that time, I bought the predecessor APC device and went through one cycle of battery replacement. The batteries are lead-acid so they eventually decay. When the second battery died, it turned out that the original device had gone out of support. So…
I bought the newer version. The cost was not too much of an increase over a battery alone, especially not when amortized over the lifetime. The new design is sleeker and, I presume that as another reviewer said, the electronics have at least a decade of improvement as well. I don’t need the battery support much, but it is an important part of the surge protection. It has, once or twice, allowed me to shut down cleanly when we had a power outage â rare where I live.
The outlets work well. Unfortunately, geometry limits how many power bricks will plug in cleanly. So I make sure that computers and external drives are on the surge/battery outlets and just run an extension plug block from a surge only outlet for any other things that do not require battery like desk lights.
This has been a reliable solution to a common problem at a reasonable price. I do not remember why I chose APC in the first place, but I have no regrets. And no more blown CPUs!

Does a good job
I havenât really had an issue with it yet, but I also, havenât lost power for a long time to really test it. It is a good quality UPS, though it is a bit heavy as it uses a lead acid battery for backup, it has decent battery life, averaging around 12 hours powering a low wattage lamp and a phone charger, the silence button is really nice, especially since it is a toggle switch, you wonât wake up to it beeping in the middle of the night.

The 850VA has been great for me when working from home. We are in a developing area and incur frequent short power outages. We also just had a windstorm that took out power for 12 hours. This has been great to keep me working through the smaller outages (approx. 1-1.5 hours to run an iMac and WiFi) and for the longer outages it allows me to notify clients, wrap up work and shut down the computer safely (runs WiFi only for about 3 hours). If this ever dies I might upgrade to the higher capacity ones, but so far it’s been a great product.

I have used it a few times already with the power outages runs our Internet modem perfectly.

I live in a remote, rural area right beside the Atlantic ocean. Needless to say, we have lots of electricity issues and outages in my region. Itâs one thing to plan ahead for storms and make sure that things are unplugged or turned off when you have advanced notice, but unfortunately, it’s the unexpected surges and brown outs that damage computers. Since getting this UPS, I never, ever worry about these issues because my APC UPS catches every single one of them with ease. With an average runtime of 20 to 30 minutes to save any open files and gracefully power the system off, Iâve no cause for undue concern anymore.
Ya gotta luv the fact that you donât need to junk the whole unit when the battery starts giving out – you just replace the battery. APC has been the go-to, most-relied-upon UPS manufacturer since many decades now; and for good reason! Housing a field replaceable battery and consistently delivering solid reliability makes this unit a very sensible choice. I highly recommend it!

Great when the power goes out but if the power is out for a prolonged period then you have an issue. The unit is great for keeping the wifi and computer running when the power is out for short periods. The problem starts if you have a longer power outage. Refilling the generator with gas or turning off the generator overnight would mean going back on battery power for the internet. The battery will gradually drain and you are now without battery back up.
The next designs should include a “emergency charge” mode where it will not pass through power (so this defeats the uninterrupted power supply) but it will accept any and all power input and charge up the battery.
