Yep – it’s fast
Coming from a desktop rig I built in 2019 (ryzen 7 3700x, rtx 2070 super, 32gb ram) this thing annihilates it in gaming. Some initial thoughts after playing with it for a few hours tonight:- Build quality is good. It’s no Macbook but feels premium for a Windows laptop. Not a fan of all the RGB lighting, though I’m just using this plugged in as a desktop replacement. Luckily nobody will witness me lit up like a Christmas tree.- The included ROG software is easy to use. Some useful physical hot-keys allow you to quickly switch between the different power modes (Silent? No way, give me Turbo!) Enabling the MUX switch is simple through the ROG software (and does require a restart)- Tested Battlefield 5 and Halo Infinite. Laptop handled both like it was nothing (consistent 100+ FPS in both with mixture of med/high settings, didn’t try to push it as I prefer performance over fidelity.) I’ll have to test some more demanding games, but between those too I see significantly better performance than I did on my old desktop.- FHD screen not a big deal personally, picture looks good and buttery smooth with that high refresh rate.- In turbo mode the fan does get really loud, and I can definitely feel a decent amount of hot air blowing out onto my mouse hand. Will be nice in the winter.Thing is a beast for the price. The fact that it can outperform desktop gaming rigs of respectable calibre is stunning for a laptop. Excited to put it through more rigor, which I feel confident it will be able to handle very well

Impressive overall, but there are a few short comings.
For a laptop, this is extremely impressive. The i9 12900H can outperform my previous desktop pretty easily and the RTX 3070 TI can handle most 2k gaming without struggling. This laptop comes with performance tuning and RGB adjustment right out of the box. The keyboard is nice, I personally don’t like the number pad and had to disable that function because it’s just to easily activated, having the number pad to a keybind instead would have been perfect though. Additionally, only16gbs of RAM and 1tb of storage in a $2000+ laptop is kind of underwhelming and 32gbs RAM and a 2tb drive for the OS would have been more ideal, but at least they are fully upgradable with and have an extra m.2 slot available assuming you are willing to open up this thing.I am personally not bothered by the lack of webcam because my phone’s camera is more than good enough to use instead.The included power brick isn’t very small or light, but don’t see how they could easily make it smaller considering the power this machine requires.Only 4 USB connections total is also unfortunate and that’s including the tb4 and the displayport capable 3.2 on the back. To make matters worse, there’s also no native displayport, so unless your monitor has an HDMI 2.0 port, you won’t get full use out of it. The tb4 is very handy though and if you are willing to get a tb4 splitter/hub it can add a lot of the ports that are otherwise absent, but all of the decent ones I have found all are more than $100 dollars and require external power just to operate as far as I know.As far as performance goes though, this thing won’t disappoint, the fan noise is also much more reasonable than I expected. Of course it’s not going to be quiet under higher loads, but it gets quite reasonable performance even when it’s optimized for more quiet operation. I got unlucky and my particular unit unfortunately has some coil wine when under load that is particularly annoying to me, but that’s most likely just due to bad luck rather than a problem with every laptop.Quick Edit: The coil wine went away after a few days of running the laptop.I mostly got display port alt mode to function through the USB 3.2 the display is 2k 165hz and it runs at that speed with no added latency (the reason why I say almost is that I can’t get the Nvidia control panel to detect the display, but it’s there in windows settings).I also upgraded the RAM to a 32Gb kit of Kingston fury 4800mhz cl38, the new RAM makes the laptop even faster in games that are affected by RAM speed I would recommend this upgrade if you can afford it, a Kingston 2tb pcie gen 4 ssd is also on the way.

Desktop Performance for real!
Man this thing is faster than my i9 9900KS, RTX 3090 $4600 build. Crazy Performance out of a Laptop. TRULY DESKTOP PERFORMANCE. I got this to replace the Samsung Galaxy Pro 360. I returned it because it just didn’t have enough Performance to run my audio interface properly. I was going to get the galaxy book 2 pro 360 when it came out but I decided no. I needed better cooling and power. So I found this. And this thing delivers! For power users and super power users. This thing is ridiculous! The Cpu is out of this world! This thing is now my main Music production laptop and also serves as a competitive gaming pc. I didn’t think it would be so good for gaming but it’s better my $4600 in some games. I said some because I only tried one out. Apex Legends.Also the cooling on this laptop is very very good! ð I pushed it to its limits. And I’m very pleased. It can do whatever i throw at it. I literally can’t tell the difference between a powerful desktop and a laptop. It’s that good. If i could buy it again I definitely would. And one more thing. It had the latest ports and support. Thunderbolt 4, hdmi 1.2 and fast eternity and latest wifi support. This thing is a beast in itself. If you’re thinking of getting an Alienware or razer. Get this instead. Same Performance and All and More bells and whistles for half the price. Don’t waste your money on razers overpriced brand name. You’re just paying for the name. I mean Asus is starting to get up their too with their expensive name. But way more affordable.

This is not a good laptop. It’s GREAT!
Before getting this beauty I had an MSI gaming laptop. I liked it but after not a lot of use the lettering of the W A S D keys wore off. This laptop has an even higher build quality and no sign of the lettering wearing off. Plus look at the pretty multi-coloring of the backlit keys!The lid seems to be of metal and has a texture that doesn’t show fingerprints. The main body on and around the keys does show them somewhat. A minor quibble that.My next gaming laptop will likely be another ASUS but Lenovo does have some attractive offerings too so we’ll see.

Excelente equipo, llego en excelente condiciones, no tuve ningun problema en configurarla y colocarle lo que uso para trabajo y para Gaming. Despues de hacer Benchmarks y pruebas con mi libreria de juegos recomiendo mucho este equipo. Recominedo usar el manual mode, sin embargo recomiendo investigar como funciona ya que ademas de poder controlar la velocidad de los ventiladores puedes controlar el voltaje del CPU asi como hacer overclock a tu GPU.Estoy contenta con mi compra y las temperaturas en idle (36 C) y corriendo aplicaiones de diversas cargas no he tenido problemas con las temperaturas y el metal liquido en realidad hace una diferencia para mantener temperaturas adecuadas en Gaming con juegos de alto impacto para el CPU y el GPU.El MUX swicht es ideal si quieres sacarle todo el redimineto a tu GPU.El sonido de las bocinas me agrado mucho.

By far the coolest laptop I ever have. The RGB visual effect is awsome and it is perfect for playing game. The design of keystone and numerical keypad is intersting as well. PS: The review is written for a warranty extension from ASUS.
