It works, over-kill for my use
Bought this to replace an older APC unit that is no longer supported and replacement batteries cost more than I paid for the APC device itself. I use this mainly to keep my internet-connected alarm clock always on line, and use the USB connections to charge things bedside. This was the smallest unit I could find that had charging and battery-backup, and easily available replacement batteries that don’t cost more than the unit itself. Price was reasonable, even though it’s a lot more than needed, at least it should keep my clock on for a LONG power outage.

Competitive value, efficient design, survived a major power surge!
ST625U received 2-25-2020 – I have not had a power outage yet but they happen a lot here in Florida during tropical storm season. EDIT UPDATE ON 10/19/2020 – IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE OF ALL THREE OF MY ST625U UPS units when a massive sustained power surge from an underground power cable failure burnt up 5 of my home’s stand alone surge protector outlets! My CPAP kept running right through the event while my neighbor’s wall wiring burnt up! All 3 of my 625’s are still working after giving 40 minutes of stand-by power and their breakers did not blow – END EDIT …. SECOND EDIT 10/2023: all 3 of my units and their batteries are still going strong! I just slept through a short power outage while using CPAP END SECOND EDIT. A slight odor of ‘burnt’ electronics right out of the box is normal for some electronics product manufacturing methods, do not be concerned with a slight odor that does not get stronger with use. It will diminish. I tested this unit with my powered 5 motor recliner, an LED desk light and laptop running while it was unplugged from the wall 5 minutes. I will definitely update the review if any issue develops (done!). I’m a degreed biomedical technician and this design looks fine for short term outages. This is NOT for CPAP sleeping use, battery is far too small except for short power outages. The isolated battery compartment opens easily with one phillips screw and only has battery wires inside it. I inspected the battery and found 13.2 volt charge after 6 hours plugged in. The charging circuit is extra energy efficient and causes almost no detectable waste heat, an excellent feature, as claimed on the box. After 6 hours there was only one small area of the case that had a barely warm feeling, like human skin. You can triple the run time when the original battery wears out by adding a larger battery that does not fit in the case, like a 17 AH SLA battery. You have to extend the battery wires long enough to let the battery sit next to the UPS. You must have soldering skills and the right tools to do this. The larger battery will not allow use of larger, more power hungry devices but it will greatly increase run time for your existing use during power outages. The larger batteries cost about the same but they are more durable. I have no interest in setting up the software monitoring. Just a gimmick for this size device. The UPS software may not recognize a larger battery capacity but it might if it is based only on voltage remaining. As the instructions say, this will beep when power goes out but you can mute the beeping in advance by tapping the main power button twice. I don’t know if it retains the mute setting after a complete battery discharge. You can just locate a battery the same dimensions of the original if you want it to fit in the case. It is ‘CPS5.5AH’ 6 inches long, 3 3/4 high without terminals, and 2 inches wide. I decided to buy another one of this model for my modem, router and Ooma phone box to prevent those tedious full reboots after a power glitch.

Quiet Efficiency: The CyberPower 425 VA UPS Review
The CyberPower 425 VA UPS proves itself as an efficient, reliable, and quiet solution for power protection, suitable for a wide array of devices including Wi-Fi gateways, Macbook Air, QNAP, and even TVs and streaming boxes. The compact size and straightforward setup make it a versatile UPS for any home or small office. With sufficient outlets – four featuring both surge protection and battery backup, and four more with just surge protection – this unit can accommodate a variety of devices. In terms of performance, the CyberPower 425 VA UPS stands out. It responds promptly to power interruptions, ensuring that devices remain powered on and protected. The unit delivers around 90 minutes of power for light loads like a Wi-Fi gateway, invaluable during extended power outages. For heavier loads, such as a Macbook Air or QNAP, it ensures a solid 10 minutes for a safe shutdown, which meets my expectations perfectly. One of the highlights of this unit is its quiet operation. Even under heavy load and during charging, it maintains a low noise level. Furthermore, I haven’t experienced any issues with overheating during prolonged usage, testifying to its overall reliability.Lastly, I assume that the power efficiency of the CyberPower 425 VA UPS is adequate, as there have been no noticeable increases in energy consumption since its implementation. Additionally, I have not needed to contact customer service, indicating that the device works well and lives up to its promises. In conclusion, the CyberPower 425 VA UPS is a top-tier choice for anyone seeking a dependable, compact, and quiet UPS for their essential devices. Whether you’re dealing with frequent power interruptions or simply want to safeguard your devices from power anomalies, this UPS comes highly recommended. With its stellar performance and reliable operation, I give it a well-deserved 5-star rating.

CyberPower is a good performer but they have issues.
I worked for 40 years in electronics. Cyber Power works quite well. The batteries in them last 3+ years, and they are cheaper than other uninterruptible units. However, Cyber generally lacks features that are common in APC power supplies. (I noticed they are changing and copying popular APC features and holding their prices lower). When Power supplies function well, I like to swap aging batteries for fresh ones. With APC, I had no problems finding the dimensions of their batteries and ordering them. I have some APCs operating for 16+ years, which I consider legendary. Legendary costs more. CyberPower sells for less. I use one 425W to maintain power interruptions from my internet. Light loads are handled well, but my main Peave with CyberPower are two things. 1. “No user installable batteries for the 425.” (let me be the judge of that.) That is bull-puppy! The battery dimensions cannot be referenced in their 425 Watt. 2. CyberPower batteries and shipping cost more than buying a new unit. I hate to pitch a functional product in the junk because the battery lived to a ripe old age or faded away. All batteries should be easily located by dimensional searches. (They are not.) I have spent hours wasting away when a battery does the same thing regardless of how you shape it..

This UPS power backup is great for smaller computer or devices. If power goes out, keeps things running for 20 minutes protecting my internet modem and ethernet switch. Nice that internet won’t drop if power goes off. It’s small and light weight, works great.

This is the second one of these we have purchased. We use them as a backup for our CPAP machines so they keep operating when the power goes out. They work very well, and give about 90 minutes if running time. The battery is very easy to change when the time comes for a replacement. The first unit has been running for about 4 years now without any issues. An excellent unit that serves our needs.

Way back in the day when I used to do my own builds, I bought two huge UPS devices from APC, each weighing at least 45lbs. They never did a thing except beep at me. Both PCs that were connected to them went down whenever the power went out, even for half a second. They were stupidly-expensive units and an absolute disappointment. This month, after a weird surge that nearly bricked my PC (it was not POSTing after a weird stuttering brown-out and I basically gave it a good clean and waited an hour before trying again), I figured it was time to revisit the UPS solution. First and foremost, I was going to avoid APC. Second, I did not want to drop hundreds for a unit where the battery would last a month and then be completely useless.CyberPower’s unit took care of the first requirement and well, I have no idea about the second. I’m 100% certain that battery technology and internal chemistry is way better than when I had those APC units so hopefully it will be a long while before I start hearing this thing beep at me to tell me it’s useless. That said, within days of setting this up, my house had a short power outage – we get them ALL the time – and my PC stayed up and running with no issues. That’s all I wanted. That’s all I paid for. I got exactly that and I’m happy. If longevity turns out to be an issue, I’ll come back and update this review, but the price point was fair enough and the fact that it passed a trial by fire almost immediately after putting it in place is more than enough for me to give it the ol’ thumbs-up.
