Great Value for Gaming Laptop
I purchased this laptop primarily to run FSX:SE, which is an older flight sim program programmed to utilize mostly the processor instead of a graphics card. Obviously, that program runs quite well on this laptop, and I’m able to run several add-ons without issue. I also ran the X Plane demo on it, and that seemed to run just fine. I’m also able to play in multiplayer environments with no client-side issues. The resolution of the laptop’s screen is satisfactory, although I use a 27″ HP 1080p monitor as my primary display. The laptop gets quite warm during gameplay, although that’s obviously expected and I also have a Kootek laptop cooler running during flight. The construction of the laptop is sturdy, the keyboard works well when I use it, and it’s overall been a solid purchase for me. HP’s Support Assistant makes non-Windows & non-NVIDIA updates easy to process, although I have to open the program to ensure updates are installed even though I set the options to inform me when updates were available or downloaded. This laptop will work well until I’m able to purchase a proper setup for P3D.

Design and performace
Great laptop! Worth it! Very fast, good quality.Battery handles 3 hours, not much.Optane Rick’s, very fast for caching. 1Tb Hdd is very slow. So a combination of both, gives good performance in general.Wanna it flying? Replace slow hdd with an SSD. Or replace optane 16gb with a NVME disk, and it will fly.It comes with one memory stick 8gb, allowing include another stick. But for now I’m happy gamming with 8gb only.BTW, if you want dual boot with win10+Linux, it won’t work with optane disk, you will need to remove optane to install linux (linux does not recognize raid0 optane+Hdd 1TB).But in general it’s a great machine, worth every cent, I’m very happy with it. And green backlight really rocks :)Cheers

The Truth on this Laptop!
My Issue & How It Was Fixed: So when I first got the laptop, it was having issues connecting to the internet. Kept disconnecting and reconnecting. Eventually I found out it needed A LOT of updates which fixed the internet problem. Another issue is that it DOES overheat when playing The Sims 4 for about 20-30 minutes. Which is fine because after a while of playing it, I get bored and get off. What It Can Run For Me: So far the laptop has been working amazing. The Description says it can’t run League of Legends. It can. It ran a normal game at about 200+ FPS. I locked mine to 60 to prevent from pushing it so hard. It can also run League, Discord and Steam (an active download) at the same time.Battery Life: The battery life is pretty good and can stay off the charger for about an hour or two before needing to be charged again (If you were gaming the whole time)Precautions: If you plan on using this in bed a lot, buy a cooling pad that’s MORE than 15 inches that way the fans can reach the opening on the bottom of the laptop.Debunking Complaints: I also read the reviews about how people are having issues with it breaking or shutting down so soon. My opinion: Gaming Laptops (especially by HP) have components that should not be taken out and replaced with something that isn’t HP. Gaming laptops aren’t made to rebuild in your own way or you risk breaking something. So do not try to replace the hard drive. or the graphics card. or ANYTHING and if you do decide you want to do so, TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL. That way in case THEY break it, they have to refund you or replace the laptop.Overall, this laptop works amazing and the backlighting is great if you’re playing in the dark and cannot see the keys. 5/5 Stars from me!

Microsoft 10 is a backbreaker.
When I purchased this computer to replace my Toshiba Windows 7 Home Premium, I tried several times to transfer all my data from a portable hard drive. Finally I gave up. Then Microsoft produced 2 ‘patches’. Both produced more problems then they solved. i waited for 5 months before starting the Hewlett again. Immediately the computer began loading the offending patches- with out any prompting by me. Windows 10 loads updates automatically. If you’re quick enough getting into Settings, you can delay to auto-load up to 25 days. Around May of 2020 (purchased this in late 2018), and from tutorials learned from my Toshiba, I tried transferring my data. The Hewlett said I had operating memory only, and very little storage memory. Called Microsoft Support, the only daylight in this electronic trainwreck. The Tech, with a pronounced India accent, proceeded with a battery of tests based on my narrative. After almost 7 hours of troubleshooting I’d had it. I thanked him for his time(he was at it for nearly 7 hours, too), and assured him I was going to throw the Bastard into my Neighbor’s pond- and do my on-line banking at the local Library. He probably spent 10-15 minutes talking me out of doing that. Don’t ever think that because the Tech sounds like a character in a Bollywood Movie that they don’t know what they’re doing. I know at least ONE who doesn’t deserve the rap! After he pulled me out of my anger and frustration, he continued to work the problem- and Found It. The Windows 10 loaded Program itself was awry. It took a total of 12 1/2 hours to wipe the Hewlett and re-load Windows 10. Out of this, I got a newer, less problematic Windows 10 Version, and a funtioning computer. Have spent some time getting used to the new format- with Caution. I hope Microsoft quits using the Purchasers for Guinea Pigs. It’s now November, 2020, and i am going to attempt to transfer everything from the Toshiba to the Hewlett- now that the Hewlett shows there IS a Storage memory. The only drawback so far- no disk drive in the Windows 10 Hewlett. There are references to the on-board Tutorial for learning how to operate this machine- I don’t have them. It took me months to learn that the keys light up. I have no clue as to what else I didn’t learn. All that went out the ‘Windows” when the Tech wiped the computer and started fresh. All this could have been more tolerable if a beginning users guide, IN PRINT, had accompa nied the Computer when I first bought it. There was some computer character who I had to CONVERSE with which finally BROKE. Without another computer, and without a DIRECT NUMBER ON A PIECE OF PAPER (ARE YOU HEARING ME- MICROSOFT?!!!), anybody in this same situation probably would have mailed the damn machine back and bought an Apple. I had a family situation that required my undivided attention, over months. This did not serve me well in this particular circumstance. The Hewlett, as I have learned to use it so far, works well. Amazon had no hand in Loading the Operating system on this Machine, and in the very few instances that I have had to return items (one damaged during shipment, one with a manufacturing flaw), thet have been seamless- and Prompt. Microsoft needs to get their ACT together, and in concert with the Computer manufacturers out there, suck it up and provide a working phone number and a troubleshooting STAFF instead of an on-board “Alexa” styled waste of my time. IN PRINT. IN THE BOX, WITH THE COMPUTER.
