Good enough for casual use
Even though this tablet has Android OS 14 and the Kidoz app pre-installed, it requires a lot of set-up before use. Android is easier to set up if you allow it to copy your account settings from an Android cell phone. The tablet feels clumsy and very slow as it is getting everything arranged. But once the system is finished installing, it seems to operate a little faster after it learns your preferences. So this tablet has just enough computing power to watch streaming videos, browse news, and do online shopping. It can do kids’ gaming, but is underpowered to do 3D games. I tested it with the 3D Mark graphics benchmark app. That showed this tablet’s GPU speed is less than 3rd percentile compared to other tablets and cell phones. So it can’t do any serious gaming.The Kidoz app is a launcher. That guides young kids to access only the software and sites that you preset as a parent. I was never able to complete setting up Kidoz because it initially wanted me to give permissions for the list of installed apps, camera, microphone, and phone contacts. I approved the first 3, but I refused access to my phone contacts. Thereafter, the Kidoz software refused to install, even after I changed the permissions manually to allow full access. That’s okay, I’m satisfied with the stock Android launcher.The tablet comes with a screen protector pre-installed. It also has a nicely cushioned case. But unfortunately, the case makes it difficult to press the power button and volume buttons. Another minor problem is that even at the lowest volume setting, the speakers’ output is loud enough to disturb others. You’ll have to use a Bluetooth headset to listen privately, as there is no 3.5mm earphone jack.The tablet has most of the needed sensors, except a magnetic compass. That makes it less useful for use as a navigator (such as with Google Maps), because the tablet can’t tell which direction you are facing while you’re sitting still. It does okay once you start moving.Battery life is about 9 hours. And there is also a Micro SD card slot to increase storage capacity.In summary, this is a good tablet, especially when it is selling for less than $100.

Not 8GB RAM, but a good deal for <$100 I've noticed a lot of these devices are being advertised with way more memory than they actually have. This tablet is a good deal for the current discounted price of $90, but it only has 3GB of physical memory – see attached specs from the tablet itself. They get away with claiming 8GB because of the 5GB of "virtual memory". It definitely feels more like 3GB than 8GB. That's not to say this is bad tablet. It's a noticeable step up from our previous generic tablet with 2GB RAM. It runs basic kids apps just fine. Web browsing and YouTube work adequately as well. This gets extra points for its big screen and good-quality case. The case is durable while being lighter than other dense silicone options. One thing to note, it does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack – just a USB-C port. Overall, it's good budget Android tablet.

Solid budget tablet
Nice first or budget tablet option that has a nice screen and good amount. The packaging isn’t as good as I’ve seen on other tablets for kids, so slight miss if it’s intended for a present a kid will be unwrapping.
