Great little computer for Internet
I had wanted to add Internet browsing to our abilities when watching some TV in the evenings. Nothing too fancy for sure. The price was great, as it was a special and well within the budget I had. The 8GB of memory, SSD size and most importantly a version of Windows 10 which allowed RDP (it’s not Home Edition) made the purchase well worth it. The first unit I received didn’t work well and it took several reboots to get Windows setup as errors were happening with the hardware. It finally got to a place where it would no longer power on. The little green light on the power supply would blink when it was hooked up to the mini PC. I did a return and Amazon was awesome. They sent UPS with a label and picked up the unit from my home, and the next day a replacement had arrived. Fabulous service!! The replacement has been operating very well, is speedy and fully functional. It’s hot spot function works great to connect my firestick to it so the signal strength is superior to what I get using normal 5Ghz wireless in our home (plaster and lath with lots of nails – not really a good wall for wireless to go through). the HDMI passes audio through it so I don’t need separate audio into the TV. Overall, a great little box and with the service Amazon provides if a return is necessary, well worth the investment.

MINISFORUM U700 – A powerful and versatile mini PC
This mini PC is compact and can be mounted onto the back of most TV/monitors (standard VESA mount bracket included). Its dimension is 136x120x46mm and the entire casing is a black plastic with ventilation holes for cooling.PROs:- Intel Core i5-5257U and Intel Iris Graphics 6100 are powerful and rare to find in mini PC market. It runs Win 10 Pro smoothly and handles daily tasks without a problem (web browsing, document editing..etc). I have been editing photos/videos and gaming on this machine and it worked nicely. The built-in 8GB DDR3 memory helps a lot in performance.- It supports up to 3 monitors at the same time and is great for multitasking. There is one mini display port, one HDMI, and one USB C port which can be used to connect to external monitors. The USB C port supports data transfer up to 5.0 Gbps as well as audio and video (4K 60Hz). It can also be used to supply power to external monitor as it supports PD (power delivery) protocol.- There are 3 USB 3.0 ports available for external accessories, such as USB sticks, wireless mouse/keyboard with adaptors..etc. This mini PC also has built-in dual band WIFI AC and BT 4.2, which can be used to connect to wireless devices.- It’s easy to upgrade memory and storage. The bottom plate can be removed to access the 2.5″ HD/SSD (SATA) mount. Under the mounting bracket, there are 2 RAM slot (1 is used by the included 8GB DDR3 memory) and one SATA M2 port for SSD (used by included 128GB SSD). There is also a memory card reader which can be used to add additional storage up to 128GB.CONs:The fan does become louder when it’s processing heavy tasks, such as resource heavy 3D gaming. It’s noticeable in quiet environments but nothing disturbing. The fan keeps the mini PC at reasonable cool temperature.

Impressively compact with 4k
This review comes after approximately 2 weeks of ownership.My main reasons for the upgrade was to utilize the 4k on my display on a wall display (40″). The computer sees active use anywhere from 0-3 hours per day.This is very compact. It’s replacing an ASUS VivoPC bookshelf PC that is approximately 30% larger foot print. I had more RAM in the prior PC (16gb), but it was only capable of 2k output and was running Win8 so as to keep the now defunct Windows Mediacenter software for live TV (I’ve since dropped cable and use Plex for OTA TV streaming — so there was nothing holding me back from upgrading the OS and APU).My first impression was that the active cooling was relatively loud (vis-a-vis the prior build). The ASUS had active cooling with vents on the back and around the lower edges of the other three sides. This MiniPC unit has vents around multiple sides and a conspicuously large area on the top of the unit. The fan is also more noticeable on this unit. That made me nervous when I turned it on at first, but it seems to be holding up.When not actively in use, the unit remains in sleep. There are no problems bringing back on with a press of the keyboard. While in sleep mode, the fan throttles down. I’m using basic Win10 power management features (wireless USB keyboard & mouse are the only peripherals). The unit is connected to the display via standard sized HDMI. No problems whatsoever. Very clear, crisp picture despite being a Vizio TV display (M-series).I mounted the unit on dry wall using the included hardware bracket and my own drywall anchors & screws. It fits snug on the wall despite not being screwed into anything itself (you can lift the box of the mounting hardware without any unscrewing or loosening of any hardware).I’m connected to a 5ghz wifi. There are no problems with the connection coming out of sleep or dropping connection while in use. No complaint about speeds, but I have not tested it. The computer sees light bandwidth loads.It’s a marvel that this machine comes fully loaded with an i5 CPU, 8g RAM and Win10 preinstalled for $265. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. The only thing I can’t vouch for is longevity.There are plenty of USB ports for external storage/peripherals, but I’m not sure that’s a great idea. At leas in my mind, this is more like an internet device, light word processing, web surfing, wall display work. There is an m.2 slot, however, if you want to expand the internal storage.
