Great for a lot of use cases
I’ve now purchased three of these. Each one intended to become my home server/lab. One went to a developer friend who needed an option when he was without his laptop for a few weeks. Another went to my mother in law when her computer died. Finally got my lab setup going. I will say the launch price was a little hard to swallow, but at closer to $750 give or take, it’s definitely been a good option for the 32gb model at time of purchase. If you’re doing anything more than very casual games at relatively low resolution, this is not for you in terms of a gaming computer. Integrated graphics, while better than intel, are just not great. This is a laptop cpu in a desktop form factor. What this means in practice, is at the time of release it was the fastest laptop cpu around, and the form factor means you get decent cooling without a lot of noise. It also means it will consume a lot less power than a typical, even slower, desktop or server. It runs windows very well for general use, and you can absolutely upgrade/install windows 11. The license key is in the bios, so can install directly to a new nvme drive without issue. The fact that it’s only got a 512gb drive may be it’s one down side for out of the box configuration for some.Linux support has been fantastic. I’m running it with Proxmox for my personal use with a handful of VMs and containers running. My developer friend is running PopOS and my mother in law is running Windows 11. All have been without issue. Absolutely fantastic for general use. If you want a relatively small footprint, lower power consumption system for a desktop experience this is a great option, and for the price one of the best options out there. I absolutely do, have and will recommend this model.Worth mentioning there is an HX90G model that was recently released that may be decent for 1080p/1440p mid-level gaming that does have a better GPU (Radion 6600M iirc), that you might want to consider if you need a bit more for GPU chores. If you’re looking at this after spring of 2023, then you may want to look for a 7000/8000 series CPU model which will probably be about 30-40% faster than this model by then.On the size, it’s actually a bit bigger (3x+) than many of the mini-pc options out there… It’s roughly the size of the box for a personal pizza. About 8″ square and nearly 2″ wide. I don’t think I would use this with the VESA mount on the back of a monitor. About the only other thing of note, is the stand doesn’t “hold” on, it’s just a lose fit on the stand.. it works fine, but it doesn’t fasten.

Great Mini PC
I bought this mini PC in December 2021 and couldn’t be happier, it has a small form factor, but it packs a Ryzen9 processor, 32GB RAM and a 512 GB m.2 NVME disk for storage. It is fast and work almost silently, its main use was to run three virtual machines. After almost one and a half years of use one of the HDMI ports started flickering, a bit first but it was getting worse with the days until it was unusable, then I contacted Minisforun after sales department asking for a solution to the problem. They answered my email in less than 24h and requested me to do some tests and updates and after a few emails more they confirmed that the computer had actually a problem and offered me to send a replacement. This was amazing, because they honored the product warranty after year and a half, that’s an excellent after sales service and many Amazon sellers should take note of this!I was even more surprised when I received the replacement PC, it is a newer and more powerful model and all of this without any additional cost to me.Thanks, Nora, for all your support during the process you are really amazing. Now the new mini PC, it is a Venus Series UM690 Mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD, and AMD Radeon Graphics, I updated the SSD to a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro that is faster than the one that came with the PC, no complains here, putting a disk like this will increase the product price for sure.My only complain about the new PC is that it is a bit slow loading. After power on, the screen keeps blank for maybe 10 to 12 seconds and then the Minisforum logo appears, after that the computer flies and it shows Windows desktop in 1 to 1.5 seconds. I hope it works as well as the HX90 mini PC it is replacing.Thank you so much Minisforum for a great product and a better after sales service.

Great overall, but issues with 680M hardware-accelerated video transcoding in Linux
Pros:- Very easy to open and work on compared to other models (feet pop out to reveal screws, then pop back in)- Hard to beat the overall price/performance- Good variety of ports including USB4, 10 Gbit USB-C, 2.5 GbE- Can supposedly add a 2.5″ hdd/ssd but none of the drives I had laying around would fit (I could just be doing something wrong)- Seems to run quiet and fairly coolCons:- No DisplayPort (though I believe you can use the USB4 port for this)- No USB-A on the front- Only one internal M.2 port for NVMEs (second one is for WiFi, probably only has one slow PCIe lane)- Only one 2.5 GbE port- Radeon 680M has severe issues with hardware-accelerated h.264/h.265 transcoding in linux. You need the latest mesa-va-drivers and/or mesa-libgallium (24.2.4 seems to work) otherwise you will get random GPU crashes and instability after ~12 hours. On common distros like Debian, these packages are only available in the backports repo and many projects that use hardware transcoding point to mesa-va-drivers v22.x.x which is not stable with this iGPU. After upgrading, everything has been working fine for me, but be prepared to deal with this if you plan to use Linux with Rembrandt iGPUs.
