I’m back for another
I had a really excellent run with smart phones. For the first ten years, I NEVER put cases on them and never had any problems. Well, that streak came to a screeching halt in 2019. All of a sudden, I just couldn’t STOP dropping my phones. Idk how many times from 2019-2021 I had THREE phones being charged on my bill every month and STILL found myself trying to use one that was smashed to hell and back. Then I had one stolen in September 2021. My brother was nice enough to replace it for me, but wouldn’t even let me have it until the otterbox he ordered for it showed up in the mail two days later. And he was right, because here it is June 2024 and I’m still using that same, almost 3 year old phone. I put that first otterbox thru absolute hell. One time I was in my basement doing laundry. The light had gone out down there and I was too lazy to change the bulb, so I was using my phone as a flashlight. Well, the washer was almost done filling, I had added my downy ball and scent crystals and all the other probably useless crap we add to laundry these days, so I went to close the lid ( I have a VERY old school top loader) and I knocked my phone into the washer. It, of course, went immediately to the very bottom of the almost full washer. I would say it took me maybe 30 seconds to fish it out. It didn’t even so much as turn off! Luckily I’d had the little port protector closed, and the phone was FINE, like nothing happened at all. And I don’t even have a separate screen protector on this phone, just this otterbox. I couldn’t believe that it didn’t at least restart or something, but it was completely unharmed. But it’s been at least a few months now that this almost 3 year old otterbox has been showing signs of all the abuse I’ve thrown at it. Idk WHAT the tiles in my bathroom are made of, but they must be the hardest substance on earth. I’ve dropped glass items in there not very far, where I know that in any other room the item would’ve been unharmed or at worst MAYBE gotten a tiny crack, but those bathroom tiles SHATTER anything that touches them. Idk how many times I’ve dropped my phone in the bathroom. The old otterbox was completely warped out of shape and had a piece broken off of it months ago. When I broke another piece off of it two weeks ago, I knew my time was running out. And still, I’ve managed to drop it in there twice since then, and this poor, beaten down otterbox has STILL protected this phone. The only thing I’ve managed to damage is the glass on the back that covers the camera lens. Still not sure how I did that, but luckily, replacement glass is very cheap. My only complaint is that I can never figure out how to get the darn thing on my phone and the pics that are supposed to be instructions are useless. I know the case needs to be taken apart into 3 pieces to get it on my phone, but it feels like I’m gonna break it trying to get it apart. Hopefully, I find someone to put it on there for me soon, because Idk how many saves this old otterbox has left in it. But it’s held up to all my abuse amazingly, and I’ll never put anything else on my phones – heck, I’ll never again use a phone that doesn’t have an otterbox on it! Too risky!

My Second Otterbox Defender Case, And Worth Every Penny
I bought the Otterbox Defender Series case for my Samsung S20 FE 5G phone because I had one for my Galaxy S8 for two years, and it was successful in saving my S8 from being damaged at all several times. When I traded the Galaxy S8 in, the case of the phone itself had absolutely no scratches, no cracks, and no chips. The screen was like brand new, except for a very fine scratch it got before I bought the Defender Series case for it.The Otterbox Defender Series case for both my S8 and my S20 FE 5G were easy to install and, if need be, easy to remove to occasionally clean the phones. The screen cover/holster protects the screen well. If you aren’t one of those people that want to show off their phone and don’t want to add that “bling” factor to it, and if you really prefer to protect you high cost device, then this is the phone case for you. From my experiences, I highly recommend the Otterbox Defender Series cases. The only thing I suggest would be to make these cases more appealing by offering them in a variety of colors, including different camouflage patterns and colors due to the rugged look of the case. Even some kind of limited edition prints would make them more appealing to a broader customer base.

I am pleased that ththis phone case is so durable I had my phone slip out of my hands off a shipping dock and nothing happened to the phone.

I bought this product for my Samsung S20 FE 5G based on the manufacturer’s reputation for making quality covers whose performance is in line with their price. This cover is on the higher end of the price spectrum for this phone, but it’s sturdiness, construction and material quality make it worth the price. It’s slight “grippiness” makes it feel secure in the hand, and the side button response is excellent. It comes with a sturdy belt clip/holster that I have not worn yet, but the phone fits positively into it and it feels secure. This is the 4th Otterbox cover I’ve owned and the first in the Defender Series. It does not come with a screen protector, but you won’t likely need one with this cover for everyday drops/falls due to the cover’s superior design and construction. Film type screen covers might work as an afterthought due to their ability to be carefully trimmed. This cover is most likely NOT compatible with any screen covers that are of the tempered glass type. The dust flap/cover over the charge port is a welcome touch. Read, and understand the installation diagram before attempting to put this cover on your phone, to avoid damage to the cover and the phone.
