Customers say
Customers are satisfied with the appearance of the product. However, they mention issues with noise level, temperature control, and quality. They say the fans make loud noises, heat up when running, and have faulty temperature readouts. Some customers feel the product is cheaply made and fails quickly. The rack size is not standard, and it barely fits in cases. Opinions vary on fan lifespan, airflow, and build quality.

Don’t get duped into buying this product.
I bought this unit in July of 2017 for my rack mount stereo system. 2 years in, one of the motors started making a horrible racket like the hearing was bad in it. Once it warmed up, it quieted down, so I let it go until recently when I moved, and had it apart and decided to open it up and replace the bad motor. Think you can just buy a 12 volt 2 pin 92mm fan motor and replace it? Nope. The output voltage to these motors is 3 volts. That’s right, it’s a 3 volt motor. The claim that it is a “smart system” and it adjusts the fan speed according to temperature? BS. Thinking the voltage was just low because it was cool in my house, I decided to do an experiment. I put the I it in front of my heat vent and brought it up to where the temp display said it was 108 degrees. Guess what? Still got 3 volts at the output on all 4 plugs. Instead of God forbid making it a 12 volt output so you can just get a standard replacement motor, they had to make it their own specs so you can’t just replace the fan motors. The motors are obviously specially made specifically to Pyle’s specs so they are proprietary to this unit and whatever other product(s) they put these motors in. Which explains why the other guy’s motor failed within a year of him replacing it that he wrote about on another review, because he likely used a 12 volt motor not knowing the power supply in this unit has a 3 volt output.Think I’m just going to ditch all 4 fans and the factory power supply and keep the frame and install 4 new 12 volt fans and make my own power supply.

Good air flow; temperature probe is off a bit.
This unit has good air flow and is quiet. The temperature probe is off by about 7 degrees F. I have another probe for a different unit in the cabinet as well and have checked manually. Doesn’t really affect the reason for my purchase, so all good.

For the price it’s good
Great for in a pinch. At this price it’s hard to argue with. Worked well for about 6 months until one of the fan blades started making a pretty awful noise. Pumps a lot of air for the size. My only grief was that it was not an exact 2U. It’s like two and a half or two and a quarter, so it doesn’t line up with the rest of your setup easily.

nice but defective and bent. Looks like lousy QA
Looks like a nice product but the fans were a bit noisy but the rack mount was bent and QA did not catch it. No temp control . Nice display but without actually setting when fans turn off and on.Really regret buying it. Oh i forgot to mention that I got a used rack fan not a new one. This is typical of these cheap ass companies trying to pass off used damaged goods for new. geez I guess amazon needs to start getting on these folks for items advertised as new but is pretty clear that is was returned and tried to pass off to the next guy. Very poor and typical on Amazon goods these days. Its made by Plyle and might not be makers fault just the folks trying to pull a fast one on damaged and second hand goods. I guess knowly and willingly to do so might be considered fraud.

Keeping it cool
I purchased this item to assist in the air circulation for my companies 7′ AV rack that holds a multitude of amps, recievers, EQ’s and switch boards. It has helped a lot to keep the air flowing and equipment cool. I really enjoy the built in LED tempature disply on the front of the unit. One susgestion I would make to new buyers it to place the thermostat wire inside of your rack to better ascertain the tempature. I would like to see an option to reverse the air flow so as to have the air pulled out, but it does great for what it does. Cant beat the price either.

Pyle Pro PFN41
You get the impression that you are purchasing a professional grade cooling fan system. You are not!The device is a cheap knock off…. the cooling fan’s bearings seem to burn up any lubricant that may have been installed and they quickly overheat and stop spinning causing excessive heat in the motors….. somewhat defeating the intent of moving the rack unit’s heat…. they create heat. Unfortunately, parts are not easily accessible to make repairs, there is no support or implied warranty that will take care of fans which fail in operation. If you mount the unit in a horizontal position with fans blowing up or down it seems to work best as opposed to blowing in or out.I would suggest spending the additional money and buying a different suppliers unit. Although the unit has a nice appearance it’s functionality is limited in that it fails very quickly! My fear is that unattended the overheating motors could cause a fire if not caught in advance when the fans stop spinning…

This is by far one of the worst products I have ever ordered from Amazon. When I first installed the fans, they produced a foul stench of what I can only assume is the oil in the fans.I though that oil smell would dissipate after running for a few hours, but the smell never goes away. Also, the fans actually seem to be of no use at all in cooling my server rack, despite being at the top and back of the rack, with no air flow obstruction. When I las turned the fans on, the temperature in the rack started at 114F and then quickly rose to 117F, with no subsequent cooling until I turned the fans off.The display often shows invalid characters, at one point I believe it was attempting to display 119F, but the second 1 was display as some kind of backwards 2.Speaking of Fahrenheit, there is no option to switch the display to display Celsius readings.I recently purchased intake and extraction rack mounted fans for my rack and they are a far superior product.I will avoid anything made by Pyle in the future like the plague and recommend that everybody else does too. This is a garbage products – avoid!

El problema es que llegó muy sucio, no se si por uso o condiciones de almacenamiento.Los ventiladores son en extremo ruidosos.Dicho esto, cumple con el objetivo de enfriar el rack
