Excellent power supply tester with latest compatability
Instead of risking my computer with an old Corsair AX750 that had been collecting dust and spider webs for five years, I decided to invest in a Thermaltake Dr. Power III. And boy, am I glad I did!It failed the PG test spectacularly – displaying an “F,” the backlight turned red, PG kept flashing, and beeping loudly.Next, I used the Dr. Power III to test a brand new FSP Hydro PTM X Pro 1200W ATX 3.0 PSU. I plugged in everything: CPU, PCI-E, SATA, Molex, and even the 12VHPWR. They all tested good! The Dr. Power III uses the ATX 24-pin as its power source and displays all connections and their respective voltages on the screen. Testing is a breeze – just press the button to cycle through the tests or hold it for five seconds for auto-testing. During the tests do not disconnect or turn off the PSU as it can cause damage. The build quality of the Thermaltake Dr. Power III is superior to those cheap PSU testers. It’s lightweight and capable of testing the latest ATX 3.1 PSUs. However, it does feel a bit cheap due to its plastic construction and is more expensive.Despite that, I highly recommend the Thermaltake Dr. Power III if you have an ATX 3.0 or higher PSU and/or have multiple PSUs to test. It’s a reliable and efficient tool that makes PSU testing straightforward and hassle-free.

Easy to use, very helpful tool
This works great, the instructions are very easy to follow. I found this to be very useful for checking a power supply to make sure it’s working properly. I would buy it again and highly recommend it for a straight forward approach to check a power supply.

Best PSU tested I have used or even seen. Works great. Just pricey.

    Easy to use, very useful
I had a computer fail on me, and I was concerned that I had a faulty PSU, so I decided to purchase this tool to test it. I felt it would be useful to have around since i built a new computer and want to rebuild the one that failed, and was considering possibly doing more of that in the future. It was easy to learn how to use it, and understand it.

    PG signal false positive
Thermaltake apparently tuned the PG test on this thing to be way too sensitive. This thing claims to be ATX 4.0 compliant, but it claimed that the Power Good signal on my ASUS ROG THOR PSU was bad — only ever on the first bootup. After much handwringing, I decided to get a second opinion by buying a cheaper power supply tester (you know the one, it’s those $12-$25 cheap units all over Amazon) and found the Power Good signal’s response time to be *well* within ATX 4.0 spec. Also, when it fails, it just writes “F” to the screen but *does not tell you what value it was which failed*. This is bad design in my opinion – at least tell me, Dr. Power III, what number you think is bad! That said? Still giving it 4/5 stars for being fantastic in all other areas, and it has ports/features the other testers lack.

Best PSU tester I’ve ever had
This is a great PSU tester. I had a few old PSUs that are more than likely over 10 years old at this point and wanted to see if they were still functional, so I bought this to test them all and found that they were all still fully functional. While this PSU tester is a little more expensive than others on the market, it has fantastic build quality. The PSU cables are able to be connected and disconnected with ease. The design of this is small and portable, so I can easily carry this around in my toolkit. It also comes with a little bag to protect it, which is a nice bonus. You definitely get what you pay for and if you’re looking for a good PSU tester to last you for years, then I would recommend buying this.

    Does exactly what it says
Easy to use, screen changes colors and beeps to indicate issues. I tried all the inputs and everything worked fine. If you work on computers or find yourself needing to sort through a lot of PSUs this would be faster than hooking it up to a test bench system for basic DOA testing purposes!

great way to sort out mixed up power supply cables
Like a lot of enthusiasts, I have built up boxes of cables and PSUs. Unfortunately, they got all mixed up at some point, which is really bad since the modular cables are NOT interchangable between most power supplies and you can do serious damage to components if you mix and match. This little device easily let me sort everything out in about 10 minutes. Super easy.

Purchased to troubleshoot a failing computer. It had a heavy duty PSU, and we could not definitely eliminate that. So, this took the power supply out of the failure equation and allowed us to move on.Good test equipment allows you to focus on the real problem, not continue guessing.

I own Dr Power II.I have been using it for about 10 years. It’s OK, but not perfect. Twice it gave me a false positive, saying a power supply was good when it was not. This was confirmed by replacing the power supply.I just purchased Dr Power III a month or two ago, and I have only used it once. It worked fine, but I would only use it for a quick test and keep in mind it could be wrong.Substitution is still the best test.
