Why are there only five stars for the battery life?
There are bargains and then there are ridiculous deals like this. I actually bought this phone for myself. I chanced on the brand because most of the cool unlocked phones you see on YouTube don’t actually work in the USA because they usually have the normal odd number bands activated and here in the good ol USofA the Telco cartel uses even number channels. So you can buy a Pocophone but you won’t get 4G LTE if you use T-Mobil or At&T. The Umidigi phones are different. They have all the channels unlocked and it has a dual SIM carrier which means you can have a US SIM and a Mexican SIM in the same phone and they will use the correct channels. The Umidigi S3 Pro has virtually all the channels unlocked! Let me say that again. All the CHANNELS ARE UNLOCKED! This is a world class device that will work in any country with their local provider. This is huge and as far as I know unique to this brand.Ok, onto the rest. The screen is really really good and anybody who whines that it’s not AMOLED just needs to grow up. Did you check the price at the door? The fingerprint reader is in the correct place and is secure and almost instant. It works great every time. Face ID is not secure and annoying and under screen readers are even more insecure, slow and prone to contamination. The camera is very good for what normal people use it for and yes you can hack the Pixel code into it but why bother. It works fine as is. It has more memory and storage than most people will ever use and for those that really need more just slap an SD card into it. It’s fast with no lag and it has worked flawlessly since the day it arrived. And now the big one. The freakishly huge battery. My wife had bought a couple of months previously the new Moto G7 in black. After the third day I started to hear complaints about how it keeps running out of battery. Yes, she’s a heavy user and she has a long commute and she likes to use her smartphone as a tablet of an evening. And the G7 just didn’t have the juice. I mentioned to her that my new S3 has a battery that’s almost twice the size of her G7 and then I uttered “Do you want to try it?”. I mean I’d only had it a day and of course she said “It’s all black isn’t it? Ok, let me try it out”. That’s the moment I lost my S3 Pro. No more complaining about battery life. She doesn’t mind that it’s a bit thicker. In fact it’s easier to hold according to her. I’m now relegated to the Moto G7 which as a light user I still use half the battery life every day.The Umidigi S3 Pro is an absolute bargain and I strongly recommend it, just don’t talk about it in front of your wife. Two recommendations to Umidigi. 1, change your name back to Umi. Umidigi does not sound good. 2, encourage case makers to give us alternatives to the black TPU case you supply. The case is good but a bit low rent.Ok, 5 months on and the S3 Pro is still rocking it and my wife still loves it. I’m coming to hate the Moto G7 with it’s continual lockups and stuttering. Buy the S3 Pro, you won’t be disappointing.

Not a true 4G phone. Calls are on 3G network, which is being discontinued!
Update: Found out from AT&T that this phone switches to 3G mode during phone calls, and they won’t be supporting 3G in a few months. So… Buyer beware. This phone won’t work on most networks.Overall this is a decent middle of the line phone. Got this for my wife, and she was upgrading from a Samsung S5 (well overdue). She doesn’t use her phone a lot, but the battery life on her old phone was shot, and apps were taking forever to open, so it was time.Pros: Good photo quality, responsive, clear screen, good battery life, seamless integration with external SD card.I also purchased a 128GB SD card with the phone, and it was very simple to plug in and use.Cons:* Microphone is terrible. I returned the first phone because it was so fuzzy. The second phone was slightly better, but it still sounds like the voice is coming through a pillow. VoLTE on or off makes no difference. If you use Bluetooth most of the time, this isn’t an issue.* Not supported by carriers. Most of them have never heard of it. I was using Total Wireless, and since they didn’t have the phone in their database, they wouldn’t even let me attempt to connect it, even though, with a Verizon SIM (Total Wireless uses Verizon), it could see and connect to the Verizon towers. This was the 128GB version with both CDMA and GSM supported. In the end I switched to AT&T prepaid, and while that was an ordeal in and of itself, at least now it is working. I think I spent 6 hours on the phone between Total Wireless and AT&T, with most of the time spent with AT&T. It took about a week total to get it activated. The nice thing about AT&T is that they don’t need the IMEI of the phone to activate the SIM. Oh, and pro-tip: 4 hours with AT&T to activate online. 10 minutes to activate in the store (but you pay $15). Probably not a coincidence that the higher cost method is easier.* Touch screen is finicky. My wife accidentally bought a book on Kindle while just scrolling through the store, and a swipe was interpreted as a button press. That One Click Buy thing is dangerous on this phone.* Audio / speakers is meh. Not horrible, but definitely not great. The speakers were an after-thought.* Fingerprint reader is worthless. Don’t even bother.
